foodie notes for catherine!
this is the very best chicken i've ever had. it was at this teensy little shack at the end of nametil, and it was run by carolina and linda, both mothers, both working 14+ hour days seven days a week. they only cook one meat each day, either chicken or goat... and all they serve is beer, soda, meat, and xima, which is that white stuff on the right. it's like solid polenta but tastier. the sauce on the bottom is pirri pirri sauce, and it is HOT and salty.
there are no napkins here and no silverware - a woman comes by your table in the beginning with a basin and some water to wash your hands, and then soapy water afterwards. it is a health department's dream.

If you say the sauce was hot, it must be scorching. My tongue would have probably caught fire then fallen off.
OH but it is so GOOD! itºs not just hot, itºs salty and has its own flavor to it, too... sometimes it has a fruit base, and thatºs pretty tasty stuff.
Mmm, I bet they're tasty! if it weren't so incredibly illegal, I'll tell you to smuggle me back one... but that'd be all kinds of problems.
